Why does only Axis Bank work?
Every bank has to sign its own deal with Apple. TechCrunch reports that HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI Card are still negotiating, with Apple asking for about 0.2% of each transaction.
Do RuPay cards work?
No. Apple Pay in India supports Visa and Mastercard only. RuPay cards can't be added, whichever bank issued them.
Can I pay with UPI through Apple Pay?
No. UPI does not work with Apple Pay.
Will it work at every shop?
Not yet. A payment only goes through at terminals whose acquiring bank has turned Apple Pay on, so acceptance is patchy at first, even with an Axis card.
Can an app add my HDFC or ICICI card to Apple Wallet?
No. Only the bank that issued your card can approve adding it to Apple Wallet. Any app that says otherwise is not legitimate, so don't give it your card number.
Where does this come from?
